This January, I closed a chapter in my life… Several years ago, a colleague and I were attending a convention for Realtors when we happened upon a group of women who genuinely impressed us! Curiosity got the better of us, and upon inquiring we discovered that they belonged to an organization that was soon to change my life! Within a short time, we formed a chapter of the Women’s Council of Realtors ~ Antelope Valley, and thus begun an exciting adventure! As I stated in my outgoing message as two-term president (2005-2006) of the WCR~AV, “what a ride it has been!”
Three, short years later, I watch as a strong chapter continues on in the tradition that we established When we first started this chapter of the Women’s council of Realtors. We really didn’t know what we were doing, but stumbled along, never the less, without any money to back us, and a book of guidelines to follow. We were fortunate enough to be able to travel and pay our own way, which provided us the opportunity to see how the national and state organizations were operating; from there we formatted most of our meetings and the goals of today.
But, the memories! The WCR has taken me across this country, and introduced me to some of the best of the best in Real Estate. Women and men of dedication and integrity! I’ve been privileged to learn from the greatest teachers and all has added to my ability to represent my client! My horizons were broadened… my experiences shaped, molded and reinforced my character, my knowledge & wisdom!
Like the song… “I’ve been every where, man…” Jacksonville, Washington, D.C., San Diego, San Francisco, Chicago, & Los Vegas, to name a few! In 2005, during my first term as President, I actually got to see, and touch, President George Bush, Jr. He was a “surprise” speaker at the NAR (National Association of Realtors) in Washington DC. Dana & I got in line at 4:00 am so that we could get a seat in the front row! The hall only held 3000 realtors, and there were over 8000 of us there, wow! What an experience! How cool is that!
My memories in Sacrament are also very vivid! We were very privileged to have a private tour of the state capital set up for just us! We also got to see State Assembly Woman, Sharon Runner’s office, and had a private meeting set up with her to voice our complaints or approvals.
I have also developed so many wonderful friendships that will last me a lifetime. We e-mail each other and talk on the phone a lot! I can also keep up with what is going on in different markets across the country. I will be attending conferences this year to receive more education! The Real Estate industry is constantly changing and adjusting, it is vital to the success of my client’s transactions that I stay on top of the current trends, and base of knowledge that will enable me to provide them with the very best service possible. My experience with the WCR may be the closing a one chapter, but my continued involvement with this organization, is also the opening of a new chapter! This chapter is all about the client… and bringing the knowledge, experience, and training to work for you!
Call me today! Let’s talk for a while! (661) 478-6674
